Ralph has been interested in Yellowstone’s geysers since his first trip to the Park in 1966. He was one of the earliest subscribers to the
Geyser Gazer SPUT, and has been a Director for many years. He was the second President of GOSA, serving until 2008 in that capacity.
Ralph has visited Yellowstone nearly every year from 1968 to 1996, and following his retirement from an engineering management career in
industry, has spent three to four months each summer in Yellowstone as an NPS Volunteer in the Parks. Ralph graduated with a BSEE from
the University of Cincinnati in 1964, and has used his engineering background to complement his interest in geysers by collecting geyser
eruption times using electronic data loggers to record the activity of many of Yellowstone’s geysers. Ralph works as a volunteer for the
Geology Program of the Yellowstone Center for Resources, primarily tending to the electronic loggers and doing data analysis, but also
doing thermal cleaning in the Upper, Midway, and Lower Geyser Basins.
